Nine open-source engines, one console

  • PostgreSQL 17pgvector, PostGIS, PITR
  • MySQL 8.4 LTSRelational SQL
  • MariaDB 11.4MySQL-compatible
  • Valkey 8Redis-compatible
  • FerretDB 2MongoDB-compatible
  • ClickHouse Pro and Scale
  • libSQL SQLite over HTTP
  • PocketBase Backend in one file: auth, API, admin UI
  • Supabase Self-hosted: Postgres, auth, storage, API

Backends as a service

Free PocketBase hosting

A whole backend in one: auth, a REST and realtime API, file storage and an admin UI at /_/. Runs on the free plan and sleeps when nobody uses it.

Self-hosted Supabase

The open-source Supabase stack on Enzonic servers: Postgres, auth, storage, the auto-generated API and Supabase Studio. One Supabase project is free on the free plan, on 2 GB of compute, and it sleeps when nobody uses it.

The free tier, in full

These are the actual limits, read from the same plan settings the console enforces. Use the databases for side projects, bots, game plugins or the first version of your product.

Scale to zero

A database with no connections for five minutes stops its compute. The data stays on disk. When your app connects again the database starts, and the connection waits for it instead of failing. That is how we can give databases away for free.

A branch for every pull request

Branches are instant copy-on-write snapshots with their own hostname. Test a migration against real data, give each preview deployment its own database, or create a branch from last Tuesday at 14:05 to recover a deleted row.

  • Point-in-time branches for Postgres on Pro and Scale
  • Restore any backup into a new branch without touching the original
  • mainprimary · 612 MBActive
  • previewfrom yesterday 14:05Sleeping, branch of main
  • feat-saved-cartspull request #212Active, branch of preview
  • migrate-orders-v2creatingProvisioning, branch of main

Connect from anywhere

Each database has its own hostname on db.enzonic.com with a valid certificate. The console gives you the connection string and ready-to-paste snippets for your language, plus a pooled hostname for serverless Postgres.

import postgres from 'postgres';

const sql = postgres(process.env.DATABASE_URL);
const users = await sql`select * from users limit 10`;
Connecting to shop-prod-7k2m9q.db.enzonic.com…
  • TLS on every connection

Clients connect with verification on, using the hostname in the certificate.

  • Your own hostname on Pro

Point db.example.com at your database with a CNAME and we issue the certificate.

Databases from your code and your coding agent

Create databases, branches and backups from the API, or let your AI coding tool set up Postgres and wire the connection string for you over MCP.

Terminal
claude mcp add --transport http enzonic-cloud https://panel.enzonic.com/api/cloud/mcp \
  --header "Authorization: Bearer ecl_your_token"

The token’s scopes decide what the agent may do. Destructive tools such as rollback or write queries ask before they run.

Questions

Is the free tier really free?

Yes. Ten databases on any of the free engines, 3 GB each and 10 GB in total, with daily backups and branching. No card is needed and there is no trial period. Free accounts see ads in the console only, never in your database or your app.

What happens when a database sleeps?

After 5 minutes without connections a free database stops its compute and keeps all of its data. The next connection wakes it, and your client simply waits while it starts. Pro and Scale can stay always on.

Why FerretDB instead of MongoDB, and Valkey instead of Redis?

Current MongoDB and Redis licences do not allow them to be offered as a hosted service. FerretDB speaks the MongoDB wire protocol and Valkey is the open-source continuation of Redis, so existing drivers and most code work unchanged.

Can I connect from apps that are not hosted on Enzonic?

Yes. Every database has a public hostname with TLS, for example shop-prod-7k2m9q.db.enzonic.com, so you can connect from your laptop, a game server plugin, a Discord bot or any cloud. Postgres also has a pooled hostname for serverless functions.

How do branches work?

A branch is a copy-on-write snapshot of another branch with its own hostname and password. It takes almost no space until you change data, which makes it practical to give every pull request or migration test its own copy of real data.

What about backups?

Every database is backed up daily and the backups are stored away from the database host. Free keeps one day, Pro seven and Scale thirty. Postgres on Pro and Scale also supports restoring to any point in time inside that window.

Where are the databases hosted?

On servers Enzonic operates itself. At launch that is the United States; Europe and Asia are coming next, and you will choose the region when you create a database.

Can my AI coding tool create and query databases?

Yes. Connect the Enzonic MCP server to Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf, VS Code or Zed with a scoped API token, and the agent can create databases and branches, read connection details and run queries. Write queries ask before they run. Everything is also in the REST API.

Do you offer grants?

Yes. Open source projects, students, non-profits, startups, educators and hackathons can apply in the console for free Pro or Business time and Cloud credit. A person reviews every application.

Your first database is free.

Hosting the app too? Enzonic Deploy has a free Hobby plan.
